From Thursday, Only six branches of commercial banks will be opened in Kathmandu Valley. Accordingly, three branches will be opened in Kathmandu district, two in Lalitpur and one in Bhaktapur.

NRB has directed to make arrangements to open only 4 branches for development banks and 3 branches for finance companies. According to NRB spokesperson and head of the regulation department Dev Kumar Dhakal, the development bank will be able to open only three branches in Kathmandu district, one in Lalitpur and one in Bhaktapur and the finance company will be allowed to open only three branches in each of the three districts.

As the second wave of corona infection spreads further, Nepal Rastra Bank has adopted a policy of opening as few branches of banks and financial institutions as possible.

Banks will provide only 5 essential services during the injunction period. Accordingly, only cash withdrawal/ Deposit of more than Rs 50,000, transfer through check / IPS / RTGS, remittance payment and international trade related services will be provided.

The head offices of all the banks will come into operation during the ban period. The designated branch offices of the bank will be operational from 10 am to 2 am. Banks have been providing information through their website and Facebook page of the branch which are open.
